An Open and Affirming Congregation
American soprano Candice Hoyes is quickly distinguishing herself as a young artist who brings a warm, agile tone and sparkling characterizations to music ranging from Baroque to Contemporary. In 2008, Ms. Hoyes was selected for the prestigious Castleton Festival for Young Artists in Opera, directed by Mo. Lorin Maazel.  Her recent performances include Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia),Olympia (Les contes d’Hoffmann), Jenny Diver (The Beggar’s Opera), Frasquita (Carmen), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), and Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro).


 
This season, Ms. Hoyes makes debuts with Opera Naples (FL) as Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera with Verismo Opera and Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Light Opera Company of Salisbury.  She also joined the Caramoor International Music Festival and Natchez Music Festival as an Apprentice Artist.
 
In concert this season, Ms. Hoyes debuts with Miami Lyric Opera at their gala concert of opera highlights, and returns to Sound Symphony Orchestra as a Guest Soloist in their Summer Pops concert series. She is re-engaged with the enCANTA Collective, following her alluring performance of Water in Tan Dun’s MarcoPolo: An Opera Within An Opera with the ensemble last fall. This season, she joins enCANTA at Lincoln Center to sing Rosario in excerpts from Granados’ rarely performed opera, Goyescas, as part of the Donnell@LPA Library Concert Series.
 
Ms. Hoyes has been honored by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (IIC) Artist Grant, Paul Robeson Vocal Competition, the Westminster Voice Scholarship Competition and the Fitzie Foundation. She is a graduate of Harvard University and Westminster Choir College of Rider University.
 
Sunday June 6th, Candice will sing "Laudate Dominum" with the Chancel Choir, and "Deep River" during Communion.
