An Open and Affirming Congregation

Mission and Outreach

Golden Hill UMC is committed to service to the community and the world.  Members serve community suppers, pack Christmas baskets, serve on Habitat work sites and participate in many other service initiatives locally.  In addition,  Golden Hill has sponsored members in mission projects around the country and around the world.  In our back yard and across the globe, Golden Hill is in Mission!

Community Supper

Every Wednesday evening, there is a hot meal at Golden Hill!  GHUMC is the host and area congregations and service groups rotate the meal preparation and presentation. For over 25 years the door has been open EVERY Wednesday night!  more...

Weekenders
"Weekenders" are backpacks of kid-friendly foods for children who often go hungry on weekends.  Our United Methodist Women (UMW) partner with one of our local Bridgeport schools to identify and provide nutritious food every weekend and vaction during the school year for 38 elementary children.

     Shower Ministry

Who enjoys a nice hot shower? Most of us would be my guess. However, there are some folks in our      community who don't have easy access to bathing facilities. We have developed a ministry to offer the      opportunity for some of those in need to shower here at Golden Hill UMC.

Every year over 100 families receive a Christmas dinner, food staples and wrapped gifts from their GH neighbors. There's a job for everyone--bringing items, shopping to fill gaps, storing turkeys, wrapping gifts, packing boxes or delivering.       more...

Habitat for Humanity Partner

Many weeks find visiting groups bunking and eating at Golden Hill while they volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County building affordable housing in our city. In addition, the church and its members support Habitat in a variet of ways; serving on the Board, offering financial gifts and often work on build teams.
